We're here to help you get the most out of Dragin.
Getting Started
After installing Dragin from the Mac App Store, launch it and you'll see a small icon in your menu bar. Grant Accessibility permissions when prompted — this is required for Dragin to detect drag gestures system-wide.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I open a shelf?— Start dragging any item, then swipe your mouse horizontally or press the keyboard shortcut you've configured. A shelf will appear at your cursor.
- Why is Dragin asking for Accessibility permissions? — macOS requires Accessibility access for apps that need to detect global mouse events. Dragin uses this solely to detect drag gestures. No data leaves your Mac.
- Can I have multiple shelves? — Yes. Each shelf is independent and can hold different types of content. Create as many as you need to keep projects separate.
- Where is my data stored? — All data stays on your device in memory. Nothing is sent to external servers. When you close a shelf or quit the app, the contents are discarded.
- How do I enable clipboard history?— Open Dragin's preferences from the menu bar icon and toggle Clipboard History on. A dedicated shelf will begin capturing everything you copy.
- Does Dragin work with all apps? — Dragin works with any macOS app that supports standard drag and drop. This covers the vast majority of apps including Finder, Safari, Chrome, and creative tools.
Troubleshooting
- Shelf doesn't appear when I drag— Make sure Accessibility permissions are granted in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. You may need to remove and re-add Dragin if permissions were denied previously.
- Clipboard history isn't capturing — Check that the feature is enabled in preferences and that Dragin is running in the menu bar.
- App isn't responding — Try quitting Dragin from the menu bar and relaunching it. If the issue persists, restart your Mac.
System Requirements
Dragin requires macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later. It runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
